The effects of an unjust world

There is no fair solution to war – just winners and losers, and often the winners don’t feel like winners at all.

The reason why I do my best to avoid the news is because even the most unbiased media are reporting events to create an emotional reaction in their viewers. The problem is that emotions are best resolved with actions and there are rarely things that we can do that will lead to a fair outcome.

Whether people want to admit it or not, everybody knows that innocent lives are being lost and that we are all complicit in it. There are conflict points in the world used as battle zones between the ‘west’ and the ‘east’. It’s where people are used like pawns to see whether the west or the east is gaining relative power and influence over the other. At the same time, both the west and east are selling weapons to different sides of the conflicts to profit from the suffering of others.

I’m not sure humans will ever have a solution to these problems. By nature, humans are competitive and crave what they cannot have or what others have. In democracy, that hunger is somewhat sated through money, hierarchy, and power. But between different ideologies and systems, it almost inevitably results in violence.

One potential solution is to force everyone into a narrow belief system and to punish anyone swaying away from it, but humans are rebellious by nature. Even if the system imposed is the “best one possible” for humanity, people do not like having their freedom restricted so it would implode. It’s easy to see that what is happening is wrong, but nobody, not even the most powerful people and governments in the world have a practical solution.

I do admire everyone who takes action to try and resolve these conflicts, even if temporary and to help the innocent people unfairly put through so much suffering. My view is that human nature does not allow for what we all need to do to put an end to this, so I try to follow a slightly different path.

The path is to do my best to improve myself and use that to be kind and understanding to the people around me. The way to solve issues far away from home is to show that those of us lucky enough to live in a safer area can work together and respect each other. And hopefully more and more people will want to join societies that are formed with mutual love for everyone rather than hating on the differences.
